This is Serena He, chief sales officer from Yishang. Today, we will discuss how to perform multi-layer and multi-pass welding for thick materials.
There are three methods for gas shielded welding machines
1. Short circuit transition (0-200 A)
2. Splash transition (200-270A)
3. Jet transition (above 280A)
Generally, we only use two methods: short circuit transition and jet transition, while splash is generally not recommended for everyone to use.
Short circuit transition gas protection needs to be adjusted to 200A to hear a loud sound, but this is suitable for welding thinner plates.
It is recommended to use jet transition for welding thick plates, and the jet transition gas protection should be adjusted to 280A to distinguish whether it is the sound of splashing water.
So how can we tell if the current we regulate is correct.
Looking at the welding wire, if the wire is touching the molten pool, it indicates that the current we are using is too high. This situation requires reducing the current.
If the welding wire has already melted before reaching the base material, our voltage is too high and needs to be adjusted.
Observe the splashing state. If the splashing is relatively large, it indicates that our current and voltage do not match. We must practice regularly when doing welding.
During the spatter welding process, we set the current to 300A and the voltage to 30A. We heard the sound of flowing water and then used welding techniques to transport it in a straight line. With the welding wire, we should pay attention to the angle of the grab and push it forward. When welding the second layer, press the highest point of the first layer to weld.
